PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between First Fist (ranked 997 p4p, 282 weight class) and Mareth Line (ranked 151 p4p, 43 weight class). Fist comes to the cage accompanied by Havana. Line has chosen For Heavy Metal we will die! as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, First Fist!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mareth Line!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fist slips under a jab from Line.
Fist throws a predictable looking body shot
and Fist takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Fist tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Line was well out of range. Poor timing from Fist.
A jab lands there for Line.
Line has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Line is looking to slow Fist down with leg kicks.
Line throws a hook but Fist blocks it.
Line's jab looks to have found its range, popping Fist under the eye.
Fist drops his hands momentarily and Line takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Line moves into the clinch.
Fist misses with the head strike.
Fist lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Fist.
A short uppercut from Line.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Line breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Fist jabs Line right on the nose. Line blinks but takes it well.
Line keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Line takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Fist swings for the body but Line moves out of range.
Line swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Line throws a jab but it's blocked by Fist.
Line scores with a nice head shot.
Line throws a shot from downtown. Fist moves away and avoids it.
An attempted straight right counter from Fist misses the target.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Line jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Line scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Fist gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Line slips a straight right by Fist.
Line keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Line moves into the clinch.
Fist lands a right hand.

Line has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Fist uses from the top position.

Line working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fist doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fist manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Fist has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Line has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Fist can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Fist trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Line wants to sweep here but Fist controlling him for the moment.

Line working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fist doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fist manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Line wants to sweep here but Fist controlling him for the moment.

Line looking for subs off his back but Fist has passed one foot through into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fist wants to stand but Line has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Line wants to get back to full guard.
It looks like Fist is going to stand back up.
Line tries to roll over but Fist keeps him under control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Line gets full guard.

Line looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Fist avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Fist decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Fist throws a looping overhand right but Line ducks down to avoid it.
Fist throws a hook but Line blocks it.
Fist throws a shot from downtown. Line moves away and avoids it.
Donk. Fist catches Line right on the button with a cross.
Line takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Fist bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Line's head backwards.
Fist tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Fist throws a hook but Line avoids it easily.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Line! But no joy.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Mareth Line dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Line keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Fist.
Line throws out a counter right but Fist avoids it with no problem.
Line on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Fist moves out of range of the leg kick from Line.
Fist on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Line looks to land a combination but Fist avoids it well.
Line moves in looking to clinch but Fist pushes him off.
Fist throws a jab when Line was well out of range.
Fist fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Line tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Fist paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Line bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Line uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Fist.
We've been told by Fist's head coaches at Jeffery Epstein Suicide Center that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Line throws a leg kick
and Fist cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Fist drops his hands momentarily and Line takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Nice jab there from Fist.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fist misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Line counters with a stiff right hand.
Fist throws a big shot that misses.
It seemed like Line was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Line tries to score with a low kick but Fist moves his leg out of the way.

Fist throws out a loose jab but Line uses good head movement to avoid it.
Line misses with a looping left.
A decent looking cross lands there for Line.

Line fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Fist manages to avoid it.
Line tries to work over Fist's front leg with a kick but Fist checks it.
Line connects with a jab.
Line fails to land with a series of punches.
Fist waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Line.
Fist throws a body punch but Line moves out of range.
Line misses with an uppercut. Fist saw that one coming.
Fist swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Line looks to throw the jab but Fist is out of range.
Fist connects with a looping right hand.
Fist ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
A little feinted left hand from Fist on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Line wants to clinch.
The fighters circling - Fist throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Fist misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Line.
A nice inside leg kick there by Line. That's going to slow Fist down.
Line misses with a looping right.
Good work by Fist as he checks the leg kick.
A little feinted left hand from Fist on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Mareth Line seems to be getting the better of the standup.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fist chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Line can pounce on him.
Fist lands with a hook. Line tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Line looks to clinch
and Fist counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Line looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Fist ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Line connects with a leg kick.
Fist pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Line tries to bum rush Fist with a series of wild strikes but Fist uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Fist looks to land a right hand but Line moved out of range.
Line scores with a shot to the body.
Fist fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Line manages to avoid it.
Line gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Fist ducks under a wild hook from Line.
Fist is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
A looping hook to the body misses from Fist. Line does a little dance to reset his feet.
Line only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Fist lands with a nice body punch.
Fist lands a lovely overhand right.
Fist throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Line finds himself stumbling back on wobbly legs after being clipped by a right hand. He's up against the cage, ducking and weaving under Fist's strikes but an uppercut finds it's way through and Line falls! - He's completely out of it and the ref jumps in to save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). First Fist!
First Fist really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Urban Fighter logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
