Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Reico Vanlaque (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brett Yarris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Yarris's choice of entrance music: Land Down Under. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Reico Vanlaque!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brett Yarris!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Donatello Bradman and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vanlaque fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Vanlaque keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Yarris digs a good body shot into Vanlaque's ribs.
Vanlaque is breathing heavily.
Yarris throws a right and a left that both miss.
Yarris thows a body shot but no joy.
Vanlaque slips a jab from Yarris.
The fighters circling - Yarris throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Vanlaque fails with a takedown attempt.

You get the feeling that Yarris really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Vanlaque with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Vanlaque is working for a guillotine from mount but Yarris frees his head quite easily.
Yarris is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

Vanlaque is going olschool here, as he tries to force Yarris to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Yarris shrugs it off.
Yarris is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Vanlaque looking for a guillotine from mount but Yarris is having none of it.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Yarris's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vanlaque is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Yarris is surviving well by controlling Vanlaque's body position as best he can.
Yarris is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Vanlaque is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Yarris has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Yarris!
Vanlaque wants to sweep here but Yarris controlling him for the moment.

Yarris stands up and waves to Vanlaque to follow him.
Yarris throws a shot to the body.
Vanlaque shoots in looking for a takedown. Yarris tries to sprawl out of it but Vanlaque keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Yarris manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Reico Vanlaque. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Vanlaque shoots in and drives through. Yarris sprawls well.

Vanlaque fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Vanlaque slips a jab from Yarris.
Vanlaque will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Yarris throws a jab but it's blocked by Vanlaque.
Vanlaque looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Vanlaque throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Yarris's waist but Yarris gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Vanlaque off to one side.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brett Yarris dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Donk. Yarris catches Vanlaque right on the button with a cross.

Vanlaque looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Yarris!
Vanlaque with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.

Yarris bucks up and throws Vanlaque to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!
Vanlaque moves out of range of the strikes.
Yarris misses with an uppercut. Vanlaque saw that one coming.
Vanlaque slips under a jab.
Vanlaque closes the distance and clinches up with Yarris, looking for a takedown. Vanlaque pushes Yarris against the cage but Yarris circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Yarris lands a lovely overhand right.
Reico Vanlaque seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Yarris just misses with a punch to the body.
Reico Vanlaque is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Vanlaque shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Yarris throws a lazy right hand but Vanlaque sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Yarris looks to land a right hand but Vanlaque moved out of range.
Vanlaque walks into a jab.
Vanlaque shoots in and drives through. Yarris sprawls well.

Vanlaque uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Yarris.
Yarris misses with a hook.
Vanlaque slips under a jab.
Vanlaque misses with a takedown attempt - Yarris sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Yarris's corner calls for a 1-2. Yarris obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Vanlaque fails to land the takedown.
Vanlaque staying out of range there.
Vanlaque looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Yarris is fending him off so far but Vanlaque persists. Nope, Yarris circles away and we're back to standing.
Vanlaque avoids a punch combination nicely.
No luck for Vanlaque with that takedown attempt.

Vanlaque shoots in but Yarris avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Yarris rushes Vanlaque with punches - Vanlaque moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Vanlaque goes down! Yarris follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Brett Yarris!
