PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Andre Cain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Houston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cain comes to the cage accompanied by Dominos. Andre Cain looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Andre Cain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Brian Houston!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, William Gold and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Houston ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cain moves away.
Cain tries to close the distance and clinch up but Houston swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Houston wants to clinch but Cain slips to the side
and Cain counters with a nice uppercut.

and Cain counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Houston is trying to control the position but Cain postures up.
Houston is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Houston bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cain's guard.
Cain manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Houston manages to get himself to full guard.

Houston looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cain is one step ahead there.

Houston is trying to keep Cain in close.

Houston is working an open guard so Cain takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Cain tries to close the distance and clinch up but Houston swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Cain counters with a shoot takedown. Houston fights it but they end up in guard.
Houston is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Houston tries to buck Cain off but Cain is having none of it.
Houston is trying to work for a sweep but Cain has mounted him!
Houston is bucking up trying to escape but Cain cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Cain is breathing heavily.
You get the feeling that Houston really doesn't like being in this position too much.
A nice elbow there by Cain.

Cain cracks Houston with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Houston tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Cain has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Houston's face.
The referee warns Houston that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Houston is trying to stand.
Cain looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Houston is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Houston is squirming around, avoiding Cain's attempts to control the action.

Houston is in a horrible position here. Cain smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Houston is looking to improve his position but Cain isn't that keen on the idea.
Cain blocks Houston's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

Cain is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Houston has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Houston!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Houston with a poor takedown

and Cain decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Houston's guard.
Houston looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Cain puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Cain thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Cain throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Houston is refusing to be controlled, as Cain sits in half guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cain working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Houston's head.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Cain throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Houston doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Cain counters with a nice double leg into side control. Houston won't be happy with that.
Houston trying to control but Cain flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Cain is trying to stick to Houston's back but Houston is turning into Cain. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Cain's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Houston.
Cain wants to stand up but Houston is controlling him.
Cain on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Cain tries to get out of the position.

Houston takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Cain goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Houston turns into him and now he's in Cain's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Houston gets to his feet. Cain looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Houston misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Cain closes the distance but Houston moves to the side

and Houston counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Cain gets full guard.
Cain throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Houston wants to get up but he can't break Cain's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Cain is trying to control the position from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andre Cain dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Houston moves out of range as Cain throws a body kick.
Houston tries to clinch but fails miserably

Cain lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Houston.

Cain throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Houston gets underhooks to prevent Cain's takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Houston is working for takedown but Cain is calmly controlling the position for now.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Houston scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

and Cain counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Houston wants to sweep but no luck.
Cain scoring with punches to the head and body.
Cain postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Cain seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Cain shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
BOOM! Cain connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Houston tries to lock up and control but Cain gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Houston might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Cain kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Cain cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Cain is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Houston can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Cain avoids the attempt from Houston to control.
Houston is looking to improve his position but Cain isn't that keen on the idea.
Brian Houston has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Andre Cain is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Cain pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Andre Cain showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cain, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
