Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Malachi Lawrence!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, William Bonin!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Percy O'Donnell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lawrence gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Bonin swings widly with a right hand
and Lawrence counters with a shoot takedown. Bonin fights it but they end up in guard.
Lawrence postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Lawrence advances to half guard.
Lawrence wants to work for an arm triangle but Bonin is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Lawrence looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Bonin with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Lawrence connects with a nice short shot to Bonin's temple.

Lawrence drops an elbow to the side of Bonin's head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lawrence is nestled in close to Bonin, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Bonin on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Lawrence is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Bonin has managed to free his arm - good work.
Nice strikes from Lawrence there.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Bonin is looking for a sweep. Lawrence is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Lawrence has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Bonin defend it? Lawrence steps over the head and cranks it - Bonin is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Lawrence!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Malachi Lawrence!
