The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Chris Edwards and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
David shoots in for a takedown but Hanson shows good takedown defense.
David swats away the attempt to clinch by Hanson.
Hanson fails in his attempt to clinch.
Hanson tries to clinch but David is having none of it.

David drives through with a takedown into guard.
David must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
David tries to free his leg and advance position but Hanson is retaining full guard.
David connects with a couple of short punches.
David trying to control but Hanson is working from the bottom.
Hanson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
David loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
David stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hanson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
David pushes down on Hanson's leg and manages to get into half guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Hanson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps David's head backwards.
Hanson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
David circles away from the clinch attempt.

David shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hanson's guard.

Hanson is pressed up against the cage. David has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hanson down to the mat. Hanson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

That was a close round but I would say that John Wayne Hanson will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Hanson lands with a short shot to the head.
Hanson pushes David back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Hanson lands a hook that snaps the head of David backwards.

Hanson is fighting off a takedown attempt but David is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Hanson to the mat. Hanson regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

That's time! Hanson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!

and David decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hanson's guard.

David throws and elbow that misses. Hanson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in David's guard. Nice move by Hanson!
David wants to sweep here but Hanson controlling him for the moment.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

and David counters by clinching up.
Hanson lands a nice uppercut.

David jumps into guard, dragging Hanson to the mat.

so David counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Hanson can't keep his opponent in guard - David advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

David is just content to waste time from the top position. Hanson takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Hanson scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Cross David has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Hanson tries to close the distance and clinch up but David swats him away and circles back towards the center.

David shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than David was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

David is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Hanson has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Hanson!

David is working an open guard so Hanson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Hanson wants to clinch.
David throws a body punch but Hanson moves out of range.
John Wayne Hanson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Hanson stuffs the takedown attempt from David. David gets slowly back to his feet.

David doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Cross David comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Hanson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
