The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Da Oxlade misses with a hook
and Makarov counters with a nice body shot.
Makarov's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Makarov duly obliges.

It looks like Mawi Da Oxlade has been cut.
Makarov shoots in but Da Oxlade avoids the takedown attempt easily.

It looked like Makarov wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Makarov shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Da Oxlade eats them both and turns towards Makarov to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Da Oxlade throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Da Oxlade takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Makarov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Da Oxlade tries to avoid it but Makarov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Da Oxlade to the ground. Da Oxlade escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Makarov scores with a kick to the midsection.
Makarov keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Makarov throws a big counter combination but Da Oxlade scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Makarov throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Da Oxlade's head.
Da Oxlade stuffs the takedown.

Makarov is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Da Oxlade throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Da Oxlade breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Da Oxlade throws a hook to the side of Makarov's head but Makarov sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Da Oxlade lands with a kick to the temple. Makarov shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

It looks like Sergey Makarov has been cut.
Da Oxlade does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

and Da Oxlade counters with a crisp right hand that drops Makarov! Da Oxlade lets Makarov back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

Makarov is rocked!
Da Oxlade weaves into range and cracks Makarov right on the temple with a beautiful overhand right! Makarov goes down! He's out cold! Wow, what a beautiful knockout! Da Oxlade is strutting round the canvas like a movie star as the camera bulbs flash frantically.

After winning the bout, Mawi Da Oxlade thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
