Love comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Heart Crusher kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Love fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Love rushes Omelchenko and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Omelchenko is trying to maintain a safe position but Love gets an underhook and turns Omelchenko into the cage.

Love has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Omelchenko is trying to keep an underhook but Love manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Still in half guard, Love seems content to control.

Omelchenko is defending against the submission attempts here by Love.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Love is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Omelchenko sees it coming and defends easily.
Love prevents Omelchenko from improving his position.
Love thows a huge punch but Omelchenko dodges it nicely.

Love is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Omelchenko keeps control of the position for the meantime.
My spies in Cozad MMA Hilo inform me that Love has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Omelchenko jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Love throws a hook to the side of Omelchenko's head but Omelchenko sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Love dives in for a single leg takedown but Omelchenko sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Omelchenko throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Love gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Omelchenko is trying to stall.
Omelchenko on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Omelchenko is trying to force a seperation but Love has the dominant position.
Love tries to pull guard but Omelchenko holds him up against the cage and eventually Love drops back down to his feet.

Love drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Artur Omelchenko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Trevor Love.
Love keeps control of Omelchenko as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Love.
Love jumps guard but Omelchenko stands there with Love around his waist. Love gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Love wants a takedown.
Love takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Omelchenko breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Omelchenko jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Love scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Omelchenko is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Omelchenko is trying to stand back up but Love is controlling him

Love is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Omelchenko defends it well.

Omelchenko tries to get to full guard but Love has control of the leg.
Omelchenko makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Omelchenko.
Love tries to free his leg and advance position but Omelchenko is retaining full guard.

Love drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Love jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Omelchenko looking for a sweep. Not yet Omelchenko, not yet.
Love trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
