PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Keijo Muto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Isoroku Yamamoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Keijo Muto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Isoroku Yamamoto!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yukihiro Shimada and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Muto.
Yamamoto shoots in and drives through. Muto sprawls well.
Muto shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Yamamoto as he jumps to the side.
Yamamoto avoids the head kick by Muto.
Muto tries to close the distance and clinch up but Yamamoto swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Muto is looking to clinch but Yamamoto is avoiding it.

Muto takes the fight into the clinch.
Yamamoto tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Yamamoto managing to block the knees to the body from Muto.
Muto using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.

Muto manages to break the clinch.
Yamamoto tries to clinch there but Muto circles away.
Yamamoto throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Muto blocks a head kick by Yamamoto.
Yamamoto throws a leg kick but Muto sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Yamamoto fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Keijo Muto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Isoroku Yamamoto.
Muto bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Yamamoto looks gassed!
Muto throws a head kick that half lands.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Yamamoto throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Muto shoots and misses

and Yamamoto holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Muto landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Yamamoto is trying to break free.
Muto with a knee to the head.
Nice body punch from Muto.
Muto tries a knee to the head but Yamamoto blocks it.
Muto landing knees to the body.
Muto crunches a lovely knee into Yamamoto's ribcage.

Muto misses with a knee strike.
Muto throws a knee to the head but misses.
Muto tries to score a body lock takedown but Yamamoto shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Yamamoto blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Yamamoto pulls Muto into guard.
Yamamoto seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Muto trying to control the position from guard on top but Yamamoto is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Yamamoto is adopting a defensive guard.

Yamamoto looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Yamamoto is trying to keep Muto in close.
Yamamoto seems keen to control Muto's posture.
Yamamoto looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Yamamoto not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Yamamoto tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Muto stands and steps away. Yamamoto gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Yamamoto fails to land the takedown.
Keijo Muto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Muto clinches but Yamamoto breaks the clinch

and Yamamoto counters by clinching up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Keijo Muto dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Muto shoots in looking for a takedown. Yamamoto tries to sprawl out of it but Muto keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Yamamoto manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Muto moves in looking to clinch but Yamamoto pushes him off.
Yamamoto tries to close the distance and clinch but Muto swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Muto is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Muto tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Yamamoto moves into the clinch.
Muto is trying to drag Yamamoto to the mat but Yamamoto just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Yamamoto jumps into guard, dragging Muto to the mat.
Yamamoto is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Yamamoto lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Muto!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Muto is squirming around, avoiding Yamamoto's attempts to control the action.

Yamamoto looking to control but Muto is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Muto wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Muto holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Yamamoto tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Muto knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Yamamoto on the ground.
Yamamoto thowing shots but they're missing.

Yamamoto swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
