Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Behnder (ranked 1565 p4p, 3254 weight class) and Zhang Wei (ranked 230 p4p, 437 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Marcus Behnder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Zhang Wei!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Winston Alpacca and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Behnder on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
No luck for Behnder with that takedown attempt.
Wei thows a left - swing and a miss!
Nice sprawl there from Wei as Behnder shoots in.
Wei looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Behnder definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Behnder shoots in looking for a takedown. Wei tries to sprawl out of it but Behnder keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wei manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcus Behnder. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Behnder fails to land the takedown.

Wei gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Behnder to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Wei is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Behnder works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Wei is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Behnder trying to control from half guard but Wei is working away.

Behnder looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Wei really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Behnder. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Wei tries to roll over but Behnder keeps him under control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Behnder slows the pace down in half guard.
Behnder stops Wei from getting back to his feet.

Behnder is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Wei is looking for a sweep. Behnder is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Wei is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wei can do anything to dispel that myth.

Wei trying to hold on to Behnder's head to control him but Behnder postures up.

Wei looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Behnder not doing much here.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Wei looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Behnder is trying to keep Wei in close.
Behnder working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Wei.
Wei throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Behnder works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Behnder working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wei doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wei manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Wei lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Behnder had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Wei defends it easily.

Behnder looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Zhang Wei will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Behnder moves out of range of the strikes.

Behnder has managed to clinch.

Behnder jumps guard.
Wei scoring with some ground and pound.
Wei postures up and lands a big shot to Behnder's brow.
Wei must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Wei trying to control but Behnder is working from the bottom.

Behnder looking for a guillotine here but Wei defends easily.
Behnder has momentary wrist control but Wei slips an elbow through the middle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wei showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Behnder escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wei gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Wei makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Wei got a little sloppy there for a moment and Behnder has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Wei has managed to get both his arms back between Behnder's legs - danger averted.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wei makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Wei trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Behnder looking to control.

Behnder is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Wei postures up and lands a big shot to Behnder's brow.

Wei wants to pass the guard but Behnder is keeping the position.
Wei wants to control from the top but Behnder keeps moving.
Wei lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Wei is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Behnder is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Wei frees his head nicely. Oh but Behnder has switched to an armbar! Wei is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
