PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marty Stripes (ranked 3084 p4p, 4973 weight class) and Kamaru Rozengannou (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Marco Blurström and Tarja Halkonen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stripes throws a push kick but Rozengannou slaps the foot to one side.
Rozengannou misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Rozengannou shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Stripes defends it nicely.
Stripes keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Marty Stripes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kamaru Rozengannou.

Rozengannou closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rozengannou wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Stripes, who protects the arm well.

Stripes is trying to control but can't.

Rozengannou seems to be working for a kimura but Stripes defends the submission attempt.
Stripes is trying to stand up here but Rozengannou is controlling him well.

Rozengannou is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Stripes doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rozengannou.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Stripes is pressing down on Rozengannou's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Stripes tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Rozengannou fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Stripes to the ground. Rozengannou is now in Stripes's guard.

Stripes is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Stripes is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rozengannou is controlling him.
Stripes controls Rozengannou momentarily but Rozengannou frees himself.
Rozengannou must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Rozengannou makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rozengannou really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stripes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Rozengannou wants to control from the top but Stripes keeps moving.

Stripes throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Rozengannou blocks it with crossed arms.

Stripes really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Rozengannou breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Rozengannou ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rozengannou no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Rozengannou pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A shot to the body from Stripes misses

and Rozengannou counters with a crisp one two that drops Stripes! Rozengannou thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Stripes to his feet! Stripes is in big trouble!

Stripes is rocked!
Stripes throws a lazy head kick

and Rozengannou holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Oh Stripes is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Rozengannou creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Stripes with a big uppercut! Stripes tries to clinch up but Rozengannou pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Stripes to the mat! Stripes covers up and Rozengannou unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
