Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nicky Spite!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeffery Berwick!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Ben Watson and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spite scores with a hook to the body. Berwick takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Berwick stuffs the takedown attempt from Spite. Spite gets slowly back to his feet.
Berwick is trying to counter with his kicks.
Spite tries for a takedown but Berwick sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Spite closes the distance but Berwick moves to the side
and Berwick cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Berwick enables Spite to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Berwick manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Spite thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Spite pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Berwick is keeping the position for now.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Spite wants to control from the top but Berwick keeps moving.
Berwick lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Spite is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Berwick frees his head nicely. Oh but Spite has switched to an armbar! Berwick is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
