Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joe Smo (ranked 4301 p4p, 16327 weight class) and Luis Alberto Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Perez has chosen Mexicans with Guns - Highway to hell as his entrance music. Joe Smo has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smo gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Our sources have told us that Smo has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.

Perez pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Smo rushes Perez and presses him up against the cage.
Smo jumps guard but Perez turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Smo has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Perez uses from the top position.
Perez looking to sit in guard and control but Smo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Smo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Smo advances position into side control!
Smo has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Perez!

Smo looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Smo gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Smo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Perez, pushing him back against the cage.

Smo bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Perez's guard.

Smo passes Perez's left leg - he's now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Smo is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Smo rushes Perez and presses him up against the cage.
Smo scores with a shot to the side of Perez's head.

Smo keeps control of Perez as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Smo throws a monster overhand right that drops Perez! Smo follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!
