PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Borsky (ranked 5843 p4p, 6067 weight class) and Salmon Cod (ranked 585 p4p, 600 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Steve Borsky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Salmon Cod!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yuuki Gou.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cod gets a double leg takedown into Borsky's guard.

Borsky has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Cod is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Borsky stops a takedown attempt from Cod.
Borsky has had enough of the clinch but Cod keeps him there for the moment.
Cod tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Borsky smiles and moves away.

Cod closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Cod lands in his opponent's guard.
Borsky is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cod misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Cod flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Borsky stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Cod to get to his feet.
Borsky misses with a two punch combination.
Cod avoids a punch combination nicely.
Cod looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Cod scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Cod lands strikes from half guard.
Cod is looking to stall here but Borsky recovers full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Cod's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Cod stops Borsky from standing up.
Cod not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cod trying to control the position from guard on top but Borsky is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Cod distracts Borsky with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

It looks like Steve Borsky has been cut.
Cod with a nice head shot there.
Cod seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Cod tries to free his leg and advance position but Borsky is retaining full guard.
Cod with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Cod works over Borsky with some ground and pound from guard.

Borsky is rocked!

Steve Borsky's cut is getting worse.
Borsky is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Oh Borsky is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Cod loads up on a big left hand. Borsky felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Cod looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Borsky can't hide his disappointment, as Cod celebrates the victory.
