Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jamal Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pierre Lafeyette (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jamal Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pierre Lafeyette!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Trevor Gratis and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson cracks Lafeyette with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Lafeyette steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Johnson.
Johnson lands with a nice combination. Lafeyette backs away looking to recover.

Lafeyette gets a clinch.

Johnson breaks from the clinch.
Jamal Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lafeyette tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Johnson swivels and escapes.
Lafeyette uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Johnson.

Johnson wants to stand and escape but Lafeyette is having none of it.

Johnson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lafeyette can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Lafeyette slips a jab and a cross from Johnson.

Lafeyette goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Johnson has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Lafeyette but great work by Johnson.

Johnson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Lafeyette has escaped the position, nice work there.
Johnson is breathing heavily.
Lafeyette is trying to get back to half guard.
Johnson wants to control but Lafeyette is keeping him busy.
Lafeyette is looking to regain half guard here but Johnson keeps moving and retains side control.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lafeyette is on top in guard.

Lafeyette takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jamal Johnson will probably get the nod.

Johnson misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Lafeyette.
Johnson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Johnson takes a swing at Lafeyette's ribcage but misses.
Johnson scores with the left hand. Lafeyette knows he should have avoided that one.
Johnson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lafeyette circles away quickly and effectively.
Lafeyette takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Johnson scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Johnson shoots in and bounces Lafeyette off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Johnson drops back looking for a leg! Lafeyette is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lafeyette manages to kick Johnson off! Johnson jumps back into Lafeyette's guard.

Lafeyette escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Johnson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Johnson gets to his feet - Lafeyette follows without any prompting.

Johnson scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Johnson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Lafeyette is trying to control Johnson's posture but Johnson avoids it.
Lafeyette is looking for a sweep.

Johnson looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Johnson connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Lafeyette's hands.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

and Johnson counters with a left to the body.

Johnson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Johnson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Johnson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Lafeyette shoots for a takedown but Johnson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Lafeyette has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
No joy there for Johnson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Lafeyette takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Johnson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Lafeyette closes the distance and clinches.

Johnson is trying to trip Lafeyette. He has hold of a leg but Lafeyette is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Johnson persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Lafeyette is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Johnson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
