The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nettles throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Xxx bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Xxx darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Xxx looks to score with a jab to the body but Nettles is just out of range.
Hortencia Nettles seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Xxx closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Nettles is looking to reverse the position.

Nettles tries to buck Xxx off but Xxx is having none of it.

Xxx stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Xxx shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Xxx was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Nettles manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Nettles stops Xxx from standing up.
Xxx avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Nettles postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Nettles really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Nettles postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Xxx is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Nettles, into his guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Nettles is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Xxx frees his head nicely. Oh but Nettles has switched to an armbar! Xxx is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
