The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez cracks Sapp with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

It looks like Bob Sapp has been cut.

Sapp moves into range and clinches up with Alvarez.
Sapp is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Sapp tries to pull guard but Alvarez won't allow it.

Sapp manages to break the clinch.

Sapp clinches with his opponent.
Sapp misses with a hook to the ribs.
Alvarez has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Sapp tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Alvarez swivels and escapes.
Francisco Alvarez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bob Sapp.
The fight stays on the outside here - Sapp looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Alvarez throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sapp tries to close the distance and clinch up but Alvarez swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Alvarez throws a series of punches but Sapp avoids them all with ease.
Alvarez avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Sapp dives in for a single leg takedown but Alvarez sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Alvarez looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Alvarez throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sapp.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sapp tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Alvarez manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Francisco Alvarez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Alvarez ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Sapp swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Sapp tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Alvarez manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Alvarez stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Sapp moves in looking to clinch but Alvarez pushes him off.

Alvarez cracks Sapp with a big right hand and Sapp goes down!

Sapp is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Alvarez shakes his hands by his side, trying to relax. Sapp takes his eyes off the ball for a moment - Alvarez sees the opportunity and cracks him with a massive hook! Sapp bends double and collapses on top of himself - he's out! The crowd are going absolutely nuts! Wow, what a knockout!
