Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Patch Sandler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wes Barnell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barnell is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by "Like Toy Soldiers" - Eminem. Wes Barnell acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Barnell.
Sandler wants to control but Barnell postures up.
Barnell passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Sandler!

Barnell is going olschool here, as he tries to force Sandler to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Sandler shrugs it off.
Sandler is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Barnell has control of Sandler's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Sandler regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Sandler is desperately trying to improve his position but Barnell has a good base and remains in mount.
Sandler tries to hold on but Barnell postures up.

Barnell jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Sandler is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Sandler and Barnell has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Sandler is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Barnell asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Sandler is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Barnell thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Barnell wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sandler keeps working.
Sandler throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
You can see the frustration on Sandler's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Barnell wants to control but Sandler is keeping him busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Horrible takedown by Sandler or perhaps it was just good defense by Barnell which made him look bad.

Barnell clinches.

Barnell has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Sandler is trying to keep an underhook but Barnell manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Sandler has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Barnell is working away from the top position though.

Barnell looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Barnell is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Sandler tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Sandler is refusing to be controlled, as Barnell sits in half guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Sandler goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Sandler closes the distance and clinches up with Barnell, looking for a takedown. Sandler pushes Barnell against the cage but Barnell circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Sandler scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Barnell looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Barnell tries to pass to full mount but Sandler defends it.

Barnell lands a big shot there that rocks Sandler but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sandler wants to hold on but Barnell pushes him away.

Barnell working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Sandler turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Barnell off and cradles Sandler's limp body as Barnell celebrates with his corner.
