Coming up we have a welterweight kickboxing rules bout between Francisco De Brito (ranked 24542 p4p, 6241 weight class) and Flavio Ruas (ranked 687 p4p, 624 weight class). Ruas is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Mc Marcinho - Rap do Solitário. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Brito cracks Ruas with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Ruas throws a front kick aimed at De Brito's knee but De Brito avoids it well.
De Brito checks the leg kick.
De Brito appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Ruas throws a lazy right hand but De Brito sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
De Brito tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Ruas is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Ruas misses with a hook. De Brito ducked under it nicely.
Ruas walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Ruas's hands are dropping dangerously low here and De Brito connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Ruas scrambles back to his feet.

It looked like De Brito wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Ruas escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ruas throws a wild body kick that De Brito sees coming a mile off.

De Brito throws the left hand but Ruas avoids the punch easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
De Brito walks into a stiff left hand from Ruas.
Ruas ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Ruas takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
