PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Takeshi Kuroda (ranked 4818 p4p, 5355 weight class) and Haotian Zhu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Takeshi Kuroda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Haotian Zhu!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shirou Masuda.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Zhu shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Zhu showed some decent athleticism there.
Kuroda has a hand on Zhu's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Zhu takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Zhu looking to control but Kuroda is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kuroda wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Kuroda defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Zhu's arms.
Zhu is trying to stick to Kuroda's back but Kuroda is turning into Zhu. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Zhu's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Kuroda.

Kuroda thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Kuroda drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kuroda jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Kuroda is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Zhu is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Zhu has escaped and now he's on top!

Zhu wants to control from the top but Kuroda keeps moving.

Zhu got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kuroda has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Zhu has managed to get both his arms back between Kuroda's legs - danger averted.

Zhu avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kuroda is looking to cinch up a triangle. Zhu throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Kuroda's body to avoid the submission. Kuroda has instead reached around Zhu's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Kuroda arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
