Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Dwight Monthouse (ranked 6059 p4p, 6200 weight class) and Petr Veno (ranked 301 p4p, 309 weight class). Dwight Monthouse has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dwight Monthouse !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Petr Veno!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Steve Montenegro and Dean Styles.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Monthouse gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Monthouse looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Veno gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Monthouse .
Monthouse has Veno pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Veno manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Veno is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Veno tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Monthouse breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Monthouse throws a lazy head kick
and Veno counters with a three punch combo that has Monthouse backing up. Monthouse nods at Veno to acknowledge the strikes.
Monthouse lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Veno shoots in for a double leg but Monthouse sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Dwight Monthouse has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Petr Veno.
Monthouse shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Veno circles away from the clinch attempt.
Veno throws a body punch but Monthouse moves out of range.
Monthouse tries to counter by clinching up but Veno breaks away and moves out of range.

Monthouse scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Monthouse lands a nice forearm strike.

Monthouse cracks Veno with a big right hand but Veno just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Monthouse lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Monthouse stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Veno gets tackled into the cage by Monthouse . Monthouse maintains the clinch.
Veno is looking to take this one to the mat.
Veno tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Monthouse wants a takedown.

Veno pulls Monthouse into guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Veno controls Monthouse momentarily but Monthouse frees himself.

Monthouse decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Veno, up you get!
Monthouse fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Veno avoids it really well and circles away.
Monthouse closes the distance and clinches up with Veno, looking for a takedown. Monthouse pushes Veno against the cage but Veno circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Veno has managed to clinch.
Monthouse is looking to break free of the clinch but Veno has double underhooks.
Monthouse slowing the pace effectively.

Monthouse pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Monthouse tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Monthouse tries to clinch up but Veno circles away and keeps his distance.
Veno misses with a wild combination.
Monthouse throws the kick towards the body but Veno avoids it.

Veno gets caught napping as Monthouse dives in and scores a takedown. Veno manages to retain guard.
Monthouse wants to pass the guard but Veno is keeping the position.
Veno not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Monthouse has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Monthouse won't allow Veno to sweep him here.
Monthouse slips nicely into half guard.

Veno is trying to get back to full guard.

Monthouse decides to return to a standing position.

Veno gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Monthouse is standing up over Veno. Veno looks to escape but Monthouse dives into side control.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Monthouse stands up and beckons Veno to his feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Monthouse fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Veno sprawls well initially but Monthouse persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Veno tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Monthouse manages to move to mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Monthouse content just to control the position here.
Monthouse breaks from Veno's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Veno defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Monthouse .
Monthouse lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Veno hang on?

Monthouse sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Veno wants to hold on but Monthouse pushes him away.
Veno wants to get back to his feet.
Monthouse wants to control the pace but Veno is squirming around nicely.
Monthouse tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Veno is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Monthouse controlling the pace for now.
Monthouse 's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Veno in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Veno tries to improve his position but Monthouse has taken his back! Monthouse has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Veno tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Monthouse pushes Veno away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

After the fight, Dwight Monthouse was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
