PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Michael Bostic (ranked 2417 p4p, 24825 weight class) and Jamie Crossten (ranked 242 p4p, 510 weight class). Bostic kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Move. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Michael Bostic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jamie Crossten!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Ian Loll and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crossten misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Bostic closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Crossten did well to prevent Bostic getting side control.
Nice strikes from Bostic there.

Crossten is defending against the submission attempts here by Bostic.
Bostic seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Crossten is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Bostic's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bostic slips a nice elbow through Crossten's hands, connecting with Crossten's forehead.
Crossten is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Bostic scores with a couple of nice shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bostic landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bostic is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Crossten taking some punishment here, with Bostic in his half guard.
Bostic looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Bostic lands a nice short elbow.
Bostic has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Bostic is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Crossten doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bostic.
Bostic takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Bostic is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Bostic with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Bostic uses his free foot to push down on Crossten's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Crossten.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The referee warns Crossten that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Crossten can't escape the position.
Bostic has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Bostic lands a big shot there that rocks Crossten but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Crossten is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bostic postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Crossten badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Bostic around the waist but Bostic pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Bostic is the winner by TKO! Bostic jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Michael Bostic!
Our winner, Michael Bostic, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
