PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Steve Diehard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julio Cesar Perbichi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Perbichi comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Bota pra correr kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Steve Diehard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Julio Cesar Perbichi!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Matheus Silva and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diehard avoids the head kick by Perbichi.
Perbichi misses with a wild combination.
A nice inside leg kick there by Perbichi. That's going to slow Diehard down.
Perbichi scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Perbichi circles away from the clinch attempt.
Perbichi throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Diehard scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Perbichi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Perbichi will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Diehard thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Perbichi is looking for a triangle but Diehard pushes his legs off easily.
Diehard not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Perbichi looking to hit a scissor sweep but Diehard is one step ahead there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Perbichi wants to stand and escape but Diehard is having none of it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Perbichi moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Diehard has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Perbichi finds it's way round the side to connect with Diehard's head.

and Diehard counters with a single leg into guard. Perbichi didn't expect that.
Diehard wants to control from the top but Perbichi keeps moving.

Perbichi shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Perbichi was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Diehard is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Perbichi has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Diehard's face.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Steve Diehard overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Perbichi is looking to stand up but Diehard won't let him.

Diehard isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Perbichi stacks Diehard on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Perbichi!

Diehard looking for a sweep but Perbichi has passed into full mount! Oh no!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Perbichi takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Steve Diehard.
I think Diehard has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
