PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dam Son (ranked 23270 p4p, 2497 weight class) and Lee Roy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Roy's choice of entrance music: General Lee. On his way into the cage it seems that Dam Son has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Dam Son seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dam Son!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lee Roy!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Nard Betker and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Son misses with a double jab.
Roy looks to land a body kick but Son moved away.
Roy takes a swing at Son's ribcage but misses.
No joy there for Son, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Roy throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Son throws a leg kick
and Roy counters with a stiff right hand.
Roy scores with a kick to the body.
Roy throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Son tried to score with a low kick but Roy checks it.
Roy changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
A nice leg kick lands there from Roy.
Son is looking to score with low kicks.
Roy connects with an inside leg kick.
Lee Roy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Roy tries to land a front kick but Son steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Roy throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Roy scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Roy is working Son over with some ground and pound from side control.
Roy tries to advance to mount but Son denies him.
Roy is staying tight to Son's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Roy prevents Son from escaping the position.
Son being controlled for a moment.
It looks like Roy might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Son knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Roy on the ground.

Roy tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Roy has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Roy creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Son pushes Roy away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Roy gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

My spies in Fenrir MMA inform me that Roy has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Roy in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Roy works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Roy wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Son, who protects the arm well.
Son seems a little lost for a moment, as Roy dominates the positioning.
Roy misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Roy cracks Son with a big right hand but Son just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Roy content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Roy is putting a hurting on Son here, landing some big shots from side control.

Son is rocked!
Roy scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Son is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Roy can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lee Roy!
A very excited looking Lee Roy made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
