Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Paddy Mcgillicutty (ranked 587 p4p, 1158 weight class) and Owen Alvarez (ranked 82 p4p, 155 weight class). Mcgillicutty comes to the cage accompanied by Armin van Buuren - Blahblahblah. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Paddy Mcgillicutty!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Owen Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Bruno Lombardi and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez feints a jab promting Mcgillicutty to slip. Alvarez then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Mcgillicutty slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Alvarez clinches with his opponent.
Alvarez stalls.
Mcgillicutty wants to get back to striking at distance but Alvarez won't allow it.
Mcgillicutty tries to circle away but Alvarez has him pinned against the cage.
Alvarez lands with a short shot to the head.
Mcgillicutty is trying to break the clinch but Alvarez is controlling him.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Alvarez pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Alvarez has Mcgillicutty up against the cage in a clinch.
Alvarez lands a hook to the side of the head.
Mcgillicutty wants to break the clinch but can't.
Alvarez has Mcgillicutty pressed against the cage, preventing Mcgillicutty from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mcgillicutty jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Alvarez walks away with a smile on his face. Mcgillicutty gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

It looks like Owen Alvarez has been cut.

Mcgillicutty gets caught flat footed, as Alvarez shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Mcgillicutty is trying to keep Alvarez in close.

Mcgillicutty looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Mcgillicutty being controlled here, momentarily.
Alvarez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Mcgillicutty looking for a sweep. Not yet Mcgillicutty, not yet.

Mcgillicutty working for a triangle but Alvarez defends it easily.
Mcgillicutty might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Mcgillicutty throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Alvarez escapes and throws Mcgillicutty's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Alvarez in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
You can see the frustration on Mcgillicutty's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alvarez moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Alvarez is looking to take a break and control but Mcgillicutty is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Mcgillicutty tries to improve position but can't.
Mcgillicutty wants to control but Alvarez postures up.
Mcgillicutty tries to bench press Alvarez off him but Alvarez keeps the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mcgillicutty trying to control but Alvarez flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Mcgillicutty breaks Alvarez's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Alvarez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Mcgillicutty wants to control from the top but Alvarez keeps moving.
Mcgillicutty advances to half guard.
Mcgillicutty perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Mcgillicutty is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Alvarez has managed to free his arm - good work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Mcgillicutty is looking for a kimura but Alvarez is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mcgillicutty to get the leverage.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Alvarez gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Alvarez slowing the pace effectively.
Mcgillicutty working hard to break the clinch.
Mcgillicutty is trying to force a seperation but Alvarez has the dominant position.
Alvarez keeps control of Mcgillicutty as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Alvarez has picked Mcgillicutty up - he's going for a ride! Alvarez dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Alvarez wants to control but Mcgillicutty is keeping him busy.
Mcgillicutty is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Alvarez thows an elbow strike that misses. Mcgillicutty gets hold of full guard and has managed to get a loose guillotine attempt. Alvarez doesn't seem too bothered but Mcgillicutty quickly shifts his position and has tightened the hold! Alvarez is in big trouble now - he's going a funny colour - he's tapping out! Nice finish there! Alvarez really should have spotted the danger earlier though... either incompetence or over-confidence has resulted in a big L on his record.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Paddy Mcgillicutty!
Paddy Mcgillicutty decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
