Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Simms (ranked 5818 p4p, 25139 weight class) and Basit Ali (ranked 281 p4p, 325 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Antonio Simms!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Basit Ali!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Hirohito Nitta and Taro Takaoka.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ali misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Ali darts in and clinches Simms up against the ropes.
Ali trying to land knees to the body.
A battle for position here, against the ropes.
Ali is trying to break the clinch but Simms has him pressed against the ropes.

Ali is working on a single leg takedown against the ropes. Simms can't fight it off and eventually Ali manages to take the fight to the floor. Simms looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Simms lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Simms forces his way into half guard.
Ali keeping control of the position.

Simms is thwarting Ali's attempts to control the position.
Simms will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Simms is trying to control the action in half guard but Ali is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Simms is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Ali looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Simms puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Simms moves nicely into side control.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Ali is not content to let Simms control the position.
Ali can't do much from the bottom here.
Ali tries to buck Simms off but Simms is having none of it.
Ali should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Simms tries to move to mount but Ali blocks the move with his legs.
Simms advances nicely into full mount.
Simms tries to control but Ali wriggling away.
Simms avoids the attempt from Ali to control.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Simms takes Ali's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Ali is in trouble.

Simms looking to break Ali's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Ali remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Simms will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Simms is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Ali has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Simms has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Ali taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Simms doesn't care though - he's delighted!
