Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, daniel cook!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Borrum Someer!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
cook throws a sloppy head kick and Someer moves out of range easily.
Someer misses with a body kick.
cook tries a head kick but it misses.
No luck for Someer with that takedown attempt.

Someer moves into the clinch successfully.
cook stalling in the clinch but Someer improves position.
cook wants a takedown but no success here.
cook tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Someer manages to break the clinch.
Someer throws a sloppy head kick and cook moves out of range easily.
Borrum Someer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Someer misses with a wild combination.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Someer avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Someer closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
cook drops down looking for an ankle pick but Someer pulls his leg out and moves away.

Someer tries a head kick but it misses.

Someer will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Someer shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with cook but cook pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Someer throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

cook bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

cook decides to stand back up. cook steps back and let's Someer get back to his feet.
cook is breathing heavily.
Someer misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Someer closes the distance and clinches.

cook is pressed up against the cage. Someer has hold of a leg and is looking to drag cook down to the mat. cook avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Someer scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
cook manages to get to full guard.
Someer must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Someer would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

cook escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Someer gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Someer is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Someer prevents cook from standing back up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Someer throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Someer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
No luck for Someer with that takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Borrum Someer dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Someer shoots and misses

and cook counters with a nice double leg into side control. Someer won't be happy with that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

cook moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Someer is trying to buck cook off.

cook tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no cook has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Someer tries to bench press cook off him but cook keeps the position.

Someer bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
cook on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Someer. Someer obviously looking to wear him down.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Someer fails with the takedown

so cook counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
cook trying to control the position from guard on top but Someer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Someer keeping full guard, as cook tries to pass.

cook has gone for a leg lock! Someer slips out almost immediately though and dives into cook's guard.
Someer tries to stand but cook is controlling from the bottom.

cook managing to control the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Someer throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as cook works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Someer would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
cook tries to land a sweep but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


cook shoots in and drives through. Someer sprawls well.
Someer lands a jab-cross combination.
A cross from Someer lands.
Someer throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
cook throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Someer's waist but Someer gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing cook off to one side.
Someer shoots in but no luck this time.
Left hook, right uppercut from Someer.
Someer keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for daniel cook. That's going to take a lot out of him.
cook fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Someer breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Someer lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
cook stuffs the takedown attempt from Someer. Someer gets slowly back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Someer keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Someer looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for cook!
Someer throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for cook because Someer loaded up on that one.
cook really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Someer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with cook. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
cook is working hard here to advance position.
cook is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

cook is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Someer lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
cook is bucking up trying to escape but Someer cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
cook is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
cook tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The referee warns cook that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Someer throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Someer postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. cook looks a forlorn figure.
cook is wriggling around trying to escape.
cook is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Someer putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
cook really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Someer is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. cook can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
cook is desperately trying to improve his position but Someer has a good base and remains in mount.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Someer avoids the attempt from cook to control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Borrum Someer comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Someer has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
