PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tee Bone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and El Nino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bone comes to the cage accompanied by Somebody's gonna get it. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tee Bone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, El Nino!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bone fails to land the takedown.

Bone has closed the distance and engaged Nino in a clinch.
Bone drops down looking for an ankle pick but Nino pulls his leg out and moves away.
Bone shoots in for a takedown but Nino shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tee Bone. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Nino gets the takedown into side control.
Bone wants to control but Nino postures up.
Bone tries to strike from the bottom but misses.

Bone parries the strikes from Nino easily there. Nino is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Bone to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bone tries to buck Nino off but Nino is having none of it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Nino avoids the head kick by Bone.

It looks like El Nino has been cut.
Tee Bone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bone misses with a jab, cross combination.
Bone is breathing heavily.

Nino clinches.
Bone lands a nice uppercut.
Bone lands a damaging elbow.
Nino tries to pull guard but Bone won't allow it.
Nino wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Nino tries to land knees in the clinch but Bone avoids the damage to the body.
Bone tries to stall but Nino uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Bone misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Nino.
Bone is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Nino pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Nino pulls guard.
Nino keeping full guard, as Bone tries to pass.
Nino looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Nino controls Bone momentarily but Bone frees himself.

Nino looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Bone prevents Nino from getting back to his feet.

Bone thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Nino closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Nino lands in his opponent's guard.
Nino in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Nino tries to free his leg and advance position but Bone is retaining full guard.
Nino must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Bone is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Bone doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Bone will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Nino tries to stand but Bone is controlling from the bottom.
Nino wants to pass the guard but Bone is keeping the position.

Bone working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nino doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nino manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Bone is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Nino stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bone swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Nino throwing strikes from guard but Bone blocks nicely.
Bone lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Nino!
Nino is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Bone is looking to clinch but Nino is avoiding it.

and Nino counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Nino really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bone. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Bone moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Bone manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nino can do anything to dispel that myth.

Bone jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Nino manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Nino is looking to regain half guard here but Bone keeps moving and retains side control.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Bone swats away the attempt to clinch by Nino.
Nino is looking to clinch.

Bone gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bone is trying to control the position but Nino postures up.

Nino avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

El Nino showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Bone bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Bone drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bone jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Nino is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Bone lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Bone postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Bone would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Bone pushes a forearm under Nino's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Nino is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
