PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jubril Osoba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Teruo Nakamura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jubril Osoba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Teruo Nakamura!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Sosuke Kotani and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nakamura shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Osoba as he jumps to the side.
Nakamura tries to clinch up but Osoba circles away and keeps his distance.
Nakamura circles away from the clinch attempt.
Teruo Nakamura seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nakamura shoots for a takedown but Osoba saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Nice sprawl there from Osoba as Nakamura shoots in.
Jubril Osoba has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Teruo Nakamura.

Nakamura feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Osoba has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Nakamura can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Nakamura stands and throws Osoba's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Osoba wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Nakamura postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Nakamura tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Osoba on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Osoba tries to get out of the position.
Nakamura looks gassed!
Nakamura blocks the strikes from Osoba.
Osoba is looking for a sweep.
Nakamura throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Osoba is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Osoba keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Osoba gets the takedown into side control.

Osoba stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Osoba gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Osoba is looking to break free of the clinch but Nakamura has double underhooks.
Nakamura crunches a lovely knee into Osoba's ribcage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Osoba lands with a right to the head.
Osoba tries to break the clinch but Nakamura is controlling the position.
Nakamura pushes off an throws an elbow but Osoba leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Osoba lands a shot to the body.
Osoba takes an elbow to the forehead.
Nakamura throws an elbow but it misses.

Osoba turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Osoba tries to score with some ground and pound. Nakamura controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Nakamura parries the strikes from Osoba easily there. Osoba is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Nakamura to escape.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

You can see the frustration on Nakamura's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Nakamura tries to bench press Osoba off him but Osoba keeps the position.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Nakamura dodges the ground and pound from Osoba.
Nakamura wants to control but Osoba postures up.

Osoba has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Nakamura fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nakamura looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Osoba shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Osoba showed some decent athleticism there.
Osoba thows a huge punch but Nakamura dodges it nicely.

Osoba is trying to work for a kimura but Nakamura is defending well.

Nakamura is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Osoba pulls his head out easily.

Nakamura actively working from the bottom here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nakamura throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Ground and pound from Osoba.
Osoba not landing any meaningful shots this time.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Nakamura fails with an attempt to clinch.

and Osoba counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Osoba.
With the fighters up against the cage, Nakamura throws an elbow but misses.
Nakamura comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Osoba on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Osoba wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Osoba wants to get back to striking at distance but Nakamura won't allow it.
A right hook to the body lands for Osoba.
Nakamura prevents Osoba from breaking the clinch.
Nakamura creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Osoba's defenses.

Nakamura is fighting off a takedown attempt but Osoba is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Nakamura to the mat. Nakamura regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Osoba postures up in Nakamura's guard and throws a big left but Nakamura blocks it.

Osoba throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jubril Osoba dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Nakamura looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Osoba is fending him off so far but Nakamura persists. Nope, Osoba circles away and we're back to standing.
Nakamura doesn't manage to clinch there - Osoba circles away.
Osoba comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Osoba closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Nakamura to the mat! Nakamura manages to get full guard.

Nakamura looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Osoba is defending well. Nakamura quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Osoba has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Nakamura celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Teruo Nakamura!
