Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Arlo Rochester (ranked 422 p4p, 662 weight class) and Jay Simon (ranked 60 p4p, 96 weight class). Rochester comes to the cage accompanied by Tech N9ne- Dysfunctional. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Arlo Rochester!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 10 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jay Simon!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Phil Schofield and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Simon closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Rochester looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Simon is keen to just control but Rochester is a slippery customer.

Simon is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Rochester doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Simon.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Simon is trying to control. Rochester wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Simon is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rochester is just riding it out for now. Simon eventually gives up the hold.
Rochester really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Rochester is not content to let Simon control the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Simon is looking to take Rochester's back but instead Rochester gets back to half guard. Nice work.

Simon can't control as he wanted to and Rochester manages to get the fight back to his half guard.
Rochester is not content to let Simon control the position.
Rochester wants to improve his position but Simon is controlling well.
Simon passes to side control.
Rochester gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Simon can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rochester is looking to escape.

Simon has hold of Rochester's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Rochester manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Simon looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Simon moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Rochester has worked his arm free - good work by Rochester!
Rochester stops Simon from passing to mount.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Rochester throws a lazy right hand but Simon sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Simon has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Simon keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Rochester throws a looping overhand right but Simon ducks down to avoid it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Simon is stalling here. Rochester is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Simon seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Rochester has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Rochester thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Simon is looking for a sweep. Rochester is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Rochester cracks Simon with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Rochester tries to roll over but Simon keeps him under control.
Simon wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rochester keeps working.
Rochester wants to improve his position but Simon is controlling well.
Simon uses his free foot to push down on Rochester's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rochester.

Simon swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Rochester is now in Simon's guard. A big mistake from Simon there, giving up the dominant position!
Rochester wants to control from the top but Simon keeps moving.

Rochester is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Simon is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Simon has escaped and now he's on top!


Simon drops back, looking for a kneebar! Rochester looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Rochester looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Rochester!

Arlo Rochester has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Rochester wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Simon, who protects the arm well.
Jay Simon has got the better of the ground game so far.
Simon is trying to control Rochester's posture but Rochester avoids it.

Rochester looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Simon is looking to reverse the position.

Rochester goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Simon rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Rochester's guard! Nice work there by Simon!

Jay Simon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Simon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
