PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lance Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jamie Gardner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jamie Gardner!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Sam Margolis and Daniel Bishop.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gardner will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
The fighters circling - Jones throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Lance Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gardner shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Jones is trying to maintain the position but Gardner is very close to passing his half guard.
Gardner trying to control the action but Jones is working from the bottom.
Gardner is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Jones avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Gardner.
Jones moves into full guard.
Jones wants to stand up but Gardner is controlling him.
Gardner wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Gardner looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jones is fending him off so far but Gardner persists. Nope, Jones circles away and we're back to standing.
Nice takedown defense from Gardner. No joy for Jones on that attempt.
Jones drops Gardner with a nice combination! Jones dives into Gardner's guard, looking to finish!

Gardner is rocked!

It looks like Jamie Gardner has been cut.
Gardner looks gassed!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jones working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Gardner's head.
Gardner is still in real trouble! Can Jones finish him?
Jones lands a couple of elbows.
Jones pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gardner is keeping the position for now.
Gardner seems to have recovered his senses.
Jones might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Gardner had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Jones is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Gardner Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Jones's back instead.
Gardner doesn't have the hooks in and Jones manages to turn into his guard.

Jones gets to his feet - Gardner follows without any prompting.

Jones sends Gardner crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Jones is motioning to the referee to let Gardner up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

That has opened up Jamie Gardner's cut even more.
Gardner dodges the punch combination from Jones.
Jones drops his shoulder and cracks Gardner with a huge uppercut! Gardner goes down! Can Jones finish him?
Jones postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Jones stands up from Gardner's guard - Jones perhaps looking for a knockout.
Jones misses the shot to the body.
Jones lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Gardner sprawling to the canvas. Jones follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Gardner hang on?

The cut above Jamie Gardner's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Gardner tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Jones has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Jones lands a big shot there that rocks Gardner but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Jamie Gardner's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Jamie Gardner's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
