Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Heinrich Hoffman (ranked 4710 p4p, 6432 weight class) and Thijs De Koning (ranked 578 p4p, 648 weight class). Hoffman kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Nickelback - Something In Your Mouth. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Koning tries to clinch up.
Hoffman misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
De Koning dives in and grabs Hoffman's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hoffman pushes down on De Koning's head and hops out.
Hoffman tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. De Koning manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
De Koning shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hoffman as he jumps to the side.
Horrible takedown attempt by Hoffman or perhaps it was just good defense by De Koning, which made it look bad.
De Koning feints the counter takedown.
Hoffman displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from De Koning.
Hoffman throws a quick counter head kick but De Koning was just out of range.
Heinrich Hoffman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thijs De Koning.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

De Koning is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Hoffman's half guard.
Hoffman is breathing heavily.
De Koning tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

De Koning has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Hoffman defend it? De Koning steps over the head and cranks it - Hoffman is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for De Koning!
