Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dreynos Elvul (ranked 3076 p4p, 2561 weight class) and Rick Richardson (ranked 306 p4p, 260 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Richardson's choice of entrance music: Make The Money. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rick Richardson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Anthony Taglia and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richardson slaps away a takedown attempt from Elvul, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Elvul misses with a looping right.
Rick Richardson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Richardson lands a head shot.
Elvul moves out of range as Richardson strikes.
Richardson lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Richardson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Richardson connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Elvul momentarily.
Richardson looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Richardson connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Elvul momentarily.
Elvul throws a lazy right hand but Richardson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Elvul looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Elvul scores with a nice right hand.
Elvul takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Rick Richardson dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Nice sprawl there from Richardson as Elvul shoots in.
Richardson scores with the left hand. Elvul knows he should have avoided that one.
Elvul looks for a takedown but Richardson sprawls well.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Richardson! But no joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dreynos Elvul. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Richardson looks to throw the jab but Elvul is out of range.
Elvul throws a jab but it's blocked by Richardson.

Richardson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

It seemed like Richardson was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Richardson smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Elvul misses with a wild body shot.
Richardson might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Elvul will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Elvul takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Richardson darts in trying to clinch
and Elvul counters with a nice uppercut.
Nice straight punches there by Richardson. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Richardson.
Elvul slips a jab from Richardson.
Richardson works the jab nicely.
Elvul's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Richardson connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Elvul scrambles back to his feet.
Rick Richardson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Elvul takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Richardson moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
A jab from Richardson does it's job there.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Rick Richardson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Oh Elvul is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Elvul swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Richardson drops Elvul with a huge uppercut! Elvul drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Richardson is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!
