PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ronald Murvis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark McKagan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McKagan has chosen Ranma 1/2 - Kung fu fighting as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark McKagan!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and Chris Downing.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murvis drops McKagan with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but McKagan looks back up at him and smiles so Murvis waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

It looks like Mark McKagan has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Murvis shoots in but no luck this time.
McKagan misses with a two punch combination.
Horrible takedown by McKagan or perhaps it was just good defense by Murvis which made him look bad.
Murvis moves in looking to clinch but McKagan pushes him off.
McKagan circles away from the clinch attempt.

McKagan feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Murvis is trying to control the position from the bottom.
McKagan trying to control but Murvis is working from the bottom.
Murvis is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
McKagan with a flurry of punches that miss.

McKagan forces his way into half guard.
Murvis is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Murvis pushes McKagan off looking to stand but McKagan dives back in and keeps control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Murvis shoots for a takedown but McKagan saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
McKagan moves out of range as Murvis strikes.
Murvis wants to clinch up but McKagan keeps it at a distance.
McKagan looks to score with a jab to the body but Murvis is just out of range.
Murvis misses with a straight left.
McKagan tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Murvis clinches but McKagan breaks the clinch

and McKagan counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Murvis!
Murvis is breathing heavily.
McKagan sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

McKagan looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

McKagan can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Murvis is looking to escape.
McKagan putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Murvis is looking to get to half guard.
McKagan is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Murvis can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

McKagan landing punches.

McKagan has control of Murvis's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Murvis regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Murvis is trying to escape the mount.
McKagan lands with some strikes.
Murvis taking shots to the head.

McKagan goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Murvis is on top in guard.
Murvis tries to stand but McKagan is controlling from the bottom.

McKagan throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

McKagan working for a triangle but Murvis defends it easily.
Murvis trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Murvis is posturing up here but McKagan has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Murvis tries to roll out but it's too tight and Murvis has to tap! Slick submission there by McKagan!
