This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the featherweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Helsinki, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 1 losses; Oskar Friman! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 36 wins and 28 losses; Dado Mata!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, William Peck and Steve Smith.


The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.

Mata shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Mata wants to pass to mount but Friman is defending the position.
Friman has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Mata is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Friman sees it coming and defends easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mata is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Friman has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Friman!

Friman is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Mata is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Mata stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Friman swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mata seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Friman does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Mata works to advance to full mount. Friman defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Friman tries to control Mata's body but Mata pushes him off. Friman squirms to his side and now Mata has his back!
Score +3 for taking back: Friman (5) vs (15) Mata

Mata is looking for the choke from the back position but Friman is controlling his hands well.
Friman tries to escape the position.
Mata is looking to control Friman but Friman is wriggling around and keeping busy.

That's fourteen minutes gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on Friman's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Mata is trying to control but Friman is trying to escape here - he's now mounted.
Mata with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Mata jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Friman is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Friman and Mata has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Mata wins on points by 15 to 5.
