The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodrigues catches Parker with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Rodrigues slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Parker had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Rodrigues is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Parker Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Rodrigues's back instead.
Rodrigues looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Parker shoots for a takedown but Rodrigues saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Parker keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Parker shoots in but no luck this time.
Parker moves forwards but Rodrigues connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Parker shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rodrigues as he jumps to the side.
Parker takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Parker will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Rodrigues closes the distance and pushes Parker back into the cage.
Rodrigues lands a right hand that snaps the head of Parker backwards.
Rodrigues lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Parker tries to pull guard but Rodrigues won't allow it.

Parker breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Rodrigues fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Roy Parker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Parker takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Parker changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rodrigues tries to avoid it but Parker manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rodrigues to the ground. Rodrigues escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Rodrigues works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Parker closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Parker is looking to take a break and control but Rodrigues is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Parker has hold of Rodrigues's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Rodrigues tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Parker cranks the arm and Rodrigues screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Rodrigues, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
