PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Michael Bostic (ranked 2123 p4p, 2495 weight class) and Nasir Prince (ranked 212 p4p, 251 weight class). Bostic kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Move. Prince has chosen Nas- N.Y. State of Mind as his entrance music. Nasir Prince will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Michael Bostic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nasir Prince!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Prince misses with a looping right.
An attempted straight right counter from Bostic misses the target.
Bostic fails with the takedown.
Prince connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Prince connects with a high kick.
Prince throws the left hand but Bostic avoids the punch easily.

Bostic closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bostic lands in his opponent's guard.

Bostic works over Prince with some ground and pound from guard.
Prince wants to stand and escape but Bostic is having none of it.

Bostic is pushing down on Prince's leg trying to pass to half guard. Prince is fighting to maintain full guard but Bostic has managed to sneak the leg through.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Prince can do anything to dispel that myth.

Bostic looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Prince with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Bostic stops Prince from getting back to his feet.

Bostic stalling away here and it's allowed Prince to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bostic might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Bostic passes Prince's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Bostic lands a nice short elbow.

Prince felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Bostic has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We've been hearing that Bostic has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
