PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Agansing Rai (ranked 1267 p4p, 2476 weight class) and Van Der Ley (ranked 184 p4p, 343 weight class). Rai comes to the cage accompanied by Wolf Totem. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Agansing Rai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Van Der Ley!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Der Ley. Those never looked like landing.
Rai has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Top Gun Academy in the buildup to the fight.
Der Ley scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Der Ley tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rai paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Van Der Ley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rai's corner calls for a 1-2. Rai obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Der Ley doesn't manage to clinch there - Rai circles away.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Still in half guard, Rai seems content to control.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Rai seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Der Ley does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Rai looks to throw the jab but Der Ley is out of range.
Rai scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Der Ley doesn't seem bothered though.

That was a close round but I would say that Agansing Rai will probably get the nod.

Rai is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Der Ley doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rai.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Rai in particular looking to stall.

Rai scores with a one two! Der Ley had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Der Ley will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Der Ley stalks Rai and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Rai's face. Rai staggers backwards, shaken.

Agansing Rai is winning the standup battle so far.
Der Ley looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Rai bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Der Ley! He dives into his guard looking to finish!

Agansing Rai overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Rai's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Rai throws a body punch but Der Ley moves out of range.

The fight stays on the outside here - Der Ley looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rai closes the distance and pushes Der Ley back into the cage.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Rai creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Rai is working for takedown but Der Ley is calmly controlling the position for now.

Rai has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Rai has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Der Ley is trying to keep an underhook but Rai manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Der Ley is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Rai gets his way!

Agansing Rai showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Rai has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
