This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 6 wins and 3 losses; Rap Tori! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 35 wins and 26 losses; Dado Mata!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Tori tries to sprawl but Mata drives through with a takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Tori (0) vs (2) Mata
Tori wants to improve his position but Mata is controlling well.
Mata looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Mata prevents Tori from improving his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mata wants to work for an arm triangle but Tori is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

We've been hearing good reports from Tori's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
