The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Xavier as Gears shoots in.

Gears throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Xavier tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Gears is in Xavier's guard.
Gears distracts Xavier with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Gears lands a couple of digs.
Gears would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Gears not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Xavier will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Gears thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Gears makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
