Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Barbosa (ranked 247 p4p, 363 weight class) and Jay Simon (ranked 33 p4p, 52 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Daniel Barbosa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 10 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jay Simon!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Richard Clark and Daniel Bishop.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simon throws an off balance right hand
and Barbosa counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Barbosa rushes Simon and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Barbosa blocking some punches.
Simon goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Barbosa makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Simon lands a left hand.
Barbosa scores with a nice hook to the head.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Simon.
Simon tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Simon has picked Barbosa up - he's going for a ride! Simon dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Barbosa is in trouble now - Simon has advanced to mount!

Simon is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Barbosa can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Simon seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Barbosa is holding on tight.

Simon swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Barbosa is now in Simon's guard. A big mistake from Simon there, giving up the dominant position!
Simon has his hands on Barbosa's head, controlling the position.
Simon bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Barbosa's guard.

Simon wants to control from the top but Barbosa keeps moving.

Simon got a little sloppy there for a moment and Barbosa has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Simon has managed to get both his arms back between Barbosa's legs - danger averted.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Barbosa is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Simon is aware though and is defending well.

Barbosa escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Simon gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Simon is pushing down on Barbosa's leg trying to pass to half guard. Barbosa is fighting to maintain full guard but Simon has managed to sneak the leg through.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Simon throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Simon cracks Barbosa with a good jab.
Simon has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Barbosa moves out of range as Simon strikes.
It looked like Barbosa wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Barbosa enables Simon to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Barbosa manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Simon looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Barbosa is working to get back to half guard.

Simon has control of Barbosa's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Barbosa regains control of the situation pretty easily.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

It looked like Barbosa was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Simon.

Barbosa walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Simon lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Barbosa moves forwards but Simon connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Simon shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Barbosa but Barbosa pushes him off and we're back to square one.

I would just about give that final round to Jay Simon.
Well Simon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Jay Simon seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
Daniel Barbosa was interviewed post fight and said 'Congrats to White Jr, I fought hard to be champion and will keep fighting hard to get back and get my title. Back to the gym, I’d like to fight again soon... '.
