PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Lalime (ranked 2799 p4p, 1909 weight class) and Dmitry Boytsov (ranked 361 p4p, 262 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Anthony Lalime!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dmitry Boytsov!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boytsov throws a lazy right hand but Lalime sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Boytsov takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Lalime misses with a hook to the body
letting Boytsov counter with a right hand.
Lalime moves out of range as Boytsov strikes.
Boytsov misses with a looping left.
Lalime seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Lalime swings away with a body shot that misses

and Boytsov counters with a nice double leg into side control. Lalime won't be happy with that.
Lalime is holding Boytsov down, trying to stall.

Boytsov working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lalime tries to strike but it doesn't land.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lalime is looking for a sweep.
Lalime knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Boytsov on the ground.

Boytsov looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Boytsov tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Boytsov thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Lalime tries to bench press Boytsov off him but Boytsov keeps the position.
Boytsov landing a few strikes.
Lalime can't do much from the bottom here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Boytsov is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Lalime looks calm but he's in trouble here. Boytsov gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Lalime is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Boytsov lets go of the hold and Lalime can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Dmitry Boytsov!
Dmitry Boytsov decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
