PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Lee (ranked 4197 p4p, 4340 weight class) and Juan Esposito Andres (ranked 496 p4p, 505 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Juan Esposito Andres was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Robert Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Juan Esposito Andres!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Dillan Fox and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee has a takedown stuffed.
Robert Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lee shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Andres pinned against the cage. Andres gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Lee tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Andres manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Andres fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Andres feints a jab promting Lee to slip. Andres then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Lee slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Lee has been working on his balance at Mapinguari Guerreiro, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Andres.
Lee slips a jab and a cross from Andres.
Andres throws a right hand that Lee ducks under and follows up with a left that Lee also avoids with ease.

Andres connects with a body shot that sends Lee's belly button to the back.
Lee shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Andres but Andres pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robert Lee. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Lee drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Lee tries to move to mount but Andres blocks the move with his legs.
Andres is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Lee is controlling him well.

Lee wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Andres, who protects the arm well.

Lee is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Andres has escaped the position, nice work there.
Andres gets back to half guard.

Andres is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Lee pulls his head out easily.
Lee prevents Andres from standing back up.
Lee tries to pass to full mount but Andres defends it.

Andres has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lee is working away from the top position though.

Andres manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Lee tries for a takedown but Andres sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Lee fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Lee on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Lee tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Andres swivels and escapes.
Despite the aggression on Andres's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Andres scores with a three punch combo!
Lee tries for a takedown but Andres sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Andres looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Andres closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Andres wants to take a breather but Lee is having none of it.

Andres is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The fighters are battling for position here. Lee manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Andres tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lee swivels and escapes.
Lee shoots for a double leg takedown but Andres sprawls well. He's pushed Lee's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Andres smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Robert Lee is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Lee shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Lee showed some decent athleticism there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lee thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Lee wants to free his trapped foot but Andres is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Andres is looking to get back to is feet but Lee passes into side control.

Andres is looking to regain half guard here but Lee keeps moving and retains side control.
Andres is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Andres gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Andres tries to reverse the position but Lee maintains control.
Lee avoids the attempt from Andres to control.
Lee content just to control the position here.
Robert Lee overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Lee quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Lee but it's paid off an Andres is forced to tap! Nice work by Lee.
