PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Uriah Heath (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Wittman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Heath might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Asche zu Asche. Uriah Heath is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marcus Wittman!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Heath fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Heath shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Wittman but Wittman pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Wittman checks a low kick from Heath.
Heath shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Wittman as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Uriah Heath. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Heath counters with a nice double leg into side control. Wittman won't be happy with that.

Wittman is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Wittman gets back to half guard.
Wittman keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Heath looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Wittman with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Wittman has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Heath is working away from the top position though.
Heath winds up and cracks Wittman with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Heath wants to work for an arm triangle but Wittman is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Wittman is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Wittman has his takedown stuffed

and Heath counters with a single leg into guard. Wittman didn't expect that.

Heath is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Heath won't allow Wittman to sweep him here.
Heath postures up in Wittman's guard and throws a big left but Wittman blocks it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Heath connects with a couple of short punches.

Heath thows a big elbow that misses.

Heath thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Heath trying to control the position from guard on top but Wittman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Heath drops back looking for a leg! Wittman is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wittman manages to kick Heath off! Heath jumps back into Wittman's guard.

Wittman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Heath doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Heath manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Heath really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Heath is working Wittman over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Heath keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Wittman's head.

Heath drops back looking for a leg! Wittman is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wittman manages to kick Heath off! Heath jumps back into Wittman's guard.

Wittman has his feet on Heath's thighs here. He's pushed Heath off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Heath screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
