PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jules Sirne (ranked 4866 p4p, 4989 weight class) and Aqrabuamelu Minotaur (ranked 53 p4p, 153 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jules Sirne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Aqrabuamelu Minotaur!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Elvis Blanc and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sirne closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Minotaur's guard.
Sirne slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Sirne has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Sirne has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Minotaur throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Minotaur manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sirne manages to get himself to full guard.

Sirne might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Minotaur is looking to work some ground and pound but Sirne has wrist control.

Sirne looking to hit a scissor sweep but Minotaur is one step ahead there.
Minotaur wanted to stand there but Sirne had control of the position.

Minotaur tries to stand but Sirne is controlling from the bottom.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Minotaur missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Minotaur wants to stand but Sirne is controlling his posture from full guard.
Minotaur is fighting to break Sirne's control of his arms but Sirne is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Sirne darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Minotaur is trying to get back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Minotaur is trying to maintain the position but Sirne is very close to passing his half guard.

Minotaur is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Sirne pulls his head out easily.
Minotaur is trying to control but can't.
Minotaur wants to get back to full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Minotaur wants to get back to his feet.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Sirne gets the takedown into side control.
Minotaur tries to bench press Sirne off him but Sirne keeps the position.
Minotaur seems a little lost for a moment, as Sirne dominates the positioning.
Sirne seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Minotaur for as long as he can get away with.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Sirne's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Minotaur tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Sirne wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jules Sirne will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Minotaur throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Minotaur closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sirne circles away.

Sirne feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Minotaur is looking to stand back up but Sirne counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Minotaur.

Minotaur slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Sirne passes into half guard.
Minotaur wants to control but Sirne is keeping busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sirne is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Minotaur tries to kick Sirne off but Sirne keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Minotaur is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Sirne seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Minotaur is trying to control but can't.
Minotaur throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Minotaur tries to roll over but Sirne keeps him under control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Minotaur slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Sirne stays in close to Minotaur's body and controls the position.
Minotaur is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Sirne is controlling him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sirne fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sirne checks the leg kick.
Sirne blocks a head kick by Minotaur.
Minotaur tries to close the distance and clinch but Sirne swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Sirne appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Minotaur throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sirne's waist but Sirne gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Minotaur off to one side.
Sirne feinted with a counter takedown.
Minotaur shoots for a takedown but Sirne saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Jules Sirne has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aqrabuamelu Minotaur.

Minotaur rushes Sirne and presses him up against the cage.

Sirne has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Minotaur regains guard immediately.
Sirne is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Minotaur throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sirne stopping the sweep attempt from Minotaur.
Minotaur is still trying to improve position.

Minotaur is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Sirne is aware though and is defending well.

Sirne stays in close to Minotaur's body and controls the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Sirne shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Sirne showed some decent athleticism there.
Minotaur wants to control but Sirne is keeping busy.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jules Sirne dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Sirne changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Minotaur looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Minotaur takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Minotaur wants to control but Sirne postures up.

Minotaur is looking to reverse the position.

Sirne tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Minotaur can do anything to dispel that myth.
Minotaur manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Sirne working over Minotaur with some ground and pound. Minotaur looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Minotaur is trying to stand up here but Sirne is controlling him well.
Jules Sirne is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Minotaur is looking to improve his position.

Sirne wants to pass to mount but Minotaur is defending the position.

Jules Sirne overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Jules Sirne showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sirne, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
