The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

de Weert moves into the clinch successfully.
de Weert wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
de Weert is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes.
de Weert tries to stall but Minard uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
de Weert fails to pull guard.
de Weert jumps guard but Minard stands there with de Weert around his waist. de Weert gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
de Weert unloads a knee to the mid-section. Minard lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Minard lands a nice shot to the body.
de Weert fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Anderson Minard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Melvin de Weert.
Minard tries to land knees in the clinch but de Weert avoids the damage to the body.
Minard is trying to break free.
de Weert digs a right hand into Minard's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Minard's gas tank.
With the two fighters working up against the ropes, de Weert just misses with a elbow thrown towards Minard's brow.

It looks like Melvin de Weert has been cut.

Minard gets control of de Weert's arms and successfully pulls guard. Minard will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Minard is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Minard is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Minard seems to be working for a kimura but de Weert defends the submission attempt.
Minard uses his free foot to push down on de Weert's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for de Weert.
Minard trying to control but de Weert is having none of it.

de Weert is trying to escape the mount but Minard keeps good control and instead manages to take de Weert's back.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

de Weert is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Minard gets his way!

Minard is cranking de Weert's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for de Weert! He's tightened the choke and de Weert is tapping out!
