Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mike Carpenter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bertrand Wade!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Nard Betker and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carpenter instigates a clinch.
Wade is trying to stall.

Wade has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Carpenter uses from the top position.
Carpenter works over Wade with some ground and pound from guard.
Wade looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Carpenter with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Carpenter is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Wade is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Carpenter manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Carpenter wants a takedown but no success here.
Wade wants to get back to striking at distance but Carpenter won't allow it.

Wade has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Carpenter can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Wade is striking from the bottom but Carpenter uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.

We've been hearing that Carpenter has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Carpenter is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Wade tries to get to full guard but Carpenter has control of the leg.
Carpenter perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Carpenter has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Wade misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Carpenter slows the pace down in half guard.
Wade has hold of Carpenter's hands but Carpenter slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Wade wants to get back to full guard.

Wade tries to keep at a distance but Carpenter has taken the fight into the clinch.

Carpenter is trying to trip Wade. He has hold of a leg but Wade is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Carpenter persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wade is looking for a triangle but Carpenter pushes his legs off easily.
Wade has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Carpenter has passed into side control.
Carpenter gets to mount! Wade was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Carpenter takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Carpenter cracks Wade with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Carpenter looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Wade is fending him off so far but Carpenter persists. Nope, Wade circles away and we're back to standing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Carpenter is taking a breather. Wade says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Wade wants to clinch up but Carpenter keeps it at a distance.

Carpenter drops Wade with a big left hand and mounts him. Wade is in big trouble!

Mike Carpenter overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Wade is trying desperately to improve position.
Wade sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Carpenter takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Carpenter drops an elbow to the side of Wade's head.
Bertrand Wade has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Carpenter looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Wade with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Carpenter is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Carpenter is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Well Carpenter has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
