Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tekashi Six Nine !
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Caio Peieira!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Six Nine stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Six Nine wants it to stay on the feet.
A big left from Six Nine misses.
Six Nine goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Six Nine throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Peieira shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Six Nine as he jumps to the side.
Peieira misses with a head kick.
Peieira misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Six Nine pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Peieira swings for the body but Six Nine moves out of range.
Peieira lands a nice hook to Six Nine 's body. Six Nine takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Six Nine moves into range and connects with a jab.
Six Nine 's jab looks to have found its range, popping Peieira under the eye.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Six Nine gets a clinch.
A nice right hand lands inside from Six Nine .
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Six Nine managing to block the knees to the body from Peieira.
Peieira doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Six Nine definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Peieira stalling.
Peieira has a couple of punches blocked by Six Nine .

Peieira jumps guard but Six Nine stands there with Peieira around his waist. Peieira gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Tekashi Six Nine has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Caio Peieira.
Peieira will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Six Nine up against the cage.

Peieira decides to pull guard.

Peieira throws his legs up looking for a submission but Six Nine uses it to pass to side control.

Peieira swings for the body but Six Nine moves out of range.
Six Nine thinks about countering with a body kick.
Six Nine displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Peieira.
Peieira takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Peieira misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Six Nine jabs Peieira to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Peieira on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Peieira tries to land a front kick but Six Nine steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Peieira drops his hands momentarily and Six Nine takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Six Nine stuffs the takedown attempt from Peieira. Peieira gets slowly back to his feet.

Six Nine can't seem to implement his control oriented gameplan at the moment. That's no bad thing of course, for those of us who want to see a good fight.
Peieira tries to throw a body punch but Six Nine avoids it by throwing Peieira back against the cage.

Peieira jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Six Nine walks away with a smile on his face. Peieira gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Peieira needs to keep his hands up - Six Nine had a free shot at his head there.
Six Nine lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Peieira at a distance.
Peieira looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Peieira rushes Six Nine and presses him up against the cage.
Six Nine is leaning against Peieira and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Peieira pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Peieira tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Six Nine just stands there and leans against the cage.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Peieira is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Six Nine struggles to land a body shot inside as Peieira controls his hands.

Peieira is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Six Nine to keep the fight standing.

Six Nine lands a right hand that snaps the head of Peieira backwards.

Peieira has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Six Nine uses from the top position.

Six Nine lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Peieira takes one to the chin there.
Six Nine lands a leg kick that knocks Peieira off balance momentarily.
Tekashi Six Nine is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Peieira avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Peieira throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Peieira takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Six Nine thuds his shin into the meat of Peieira's side.
Peieira is still on wobbly legs! Can Six Nine finish him?
Peieira is breathing heavily.
Peieira walks into a straight right, dropping him to the canvas! Six Nine swarms him and finishes the fight with a hail of punches! What a brutal finish!
