Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dabi Cut (ranked 24984 p4p, 4089 weight class) and Otto Diaz (ranked 493 p4p, 462 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 8 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dabi Cut!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Otto Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Bart Greer and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Diaz pushes Cut up against the cage in a clinch.

Diaz pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Diaz throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Cut closes the distance and pushes Diaz back into the cage.
Cut definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Diaz tries for a takedown. No joy.
Cut misses with an elbow over the top.

Diaz escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Cut gets caught napping as Diaz dives in and scores a takedown. Cut manages to retain guard.
Diaz content to stall in guard here.
Cut trying to control the position here.
Diaz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cut. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cut looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Diaz throwing strikes but missing.

Diaz got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cut has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Diaz has managed to get both his arms back between Cut's legs - danger averted.
Diaz wants to control from the top but Cut keeps moving.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Diaz scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Diaz is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Cut doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Diaz.
Diaz wants to control but Cut is keeping him busy.

Cut regains full guard. Nicely done.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Diaz is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Cut bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Diaz's guard.

Diaz wants to get back to his feet but Cut is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Diaz lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Cut is working an open guard so Diaz takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Cut avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Diaz rushes Cut and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Diaz prevents the takedown attempt.
Cut is breathing heavily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Diaz lands a knee to the head.

Cut jumps guard and drags Diaz to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Diaz wants to control from the top but Cut keeps moving.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Diaz goes for a double leg but Cut avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Cut continues to drive forward.

Cut is trying to break free.

Diaz breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Cut darts in looking for a takedown but Diaz gets double underhooks and turns Cut into the cage.
And Diaz tries to counter it with a takedown but Cut pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Diaz escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Diaz misses with a few strikes there.
The fight stays on the outside here - Diaz looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Diaz bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
A lull in the action here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Diaz stands up.

Diaz has Cut up against the cage in a clinch.

Diaz has picked Cut up - he's going for a ride! Diaz dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Diaz wants to take a breather but Cut is having none of it.
Diaz wants to free his trapped foot but Cut is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Diaz thows a huge punch but Cut dodges it nicely.

Cut has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Diaz is working away from the top position though.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Diaz is trying to control the action in half guard but Cut is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Diaz shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Diaz showed some decent athleticism there.
Cut is refusing to be controlled, as Diaz sits in half guard.

Diaz is working for a submission of some sort.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cut is looking for a sweep. Diaz is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Diaz has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Ground and pound from Diaz.
Diaz winds up and cracks Cut with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Diaz wants to take a breather but Cut is having none of it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Diaz is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Cut is looking to improve his position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Otto Diaz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Diaz throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Cut tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Diaz is in Cut's guard.

Cut manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Cut is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Diaz breaks from the clinch.
Cut shoots in for a takedown but Diaz shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Diaz tries to clinch there but Cut circles away.

Cut tries to keep at a distance but Diaz has taken the fight into the clinch.
Diaz tries to score a body lock takedown but Cut shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Cut is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Diaz is defending well.

Cut manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Diaz gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Cut regains guard.

Cut is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Diaz can't break the clinch.
Diaz blocks an uppercut.
Diaz taking a breather.
Cut stops a takedown attempt from Diaz.
Dabi Cut has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Otto Diaz.
Cut tries to pull guard but Diaz won't allow it.

Diaz pulls guard effortlessly.

Cut avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Diaz looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Diaz avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Diaz pulls Cut in close to prevent any damage.

Cut wants to pass the guard but Diaz is keeping the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
A left lands for Diaz.
Cut lands an overhand right.
Cut blocks a head kick by Diaz.
Diaz tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cut paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Cut appears to be looking for a big counter.
Diaz swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Cut counters with a three punch combo that has Diaz backing up. Diaz nods at Cut to acknowledge the strikes.
Nice sprawl there from Diaz as Cut shoots in.

Diaz trying to control the action but Cut is working from the bottom.
Diaz stalling.
Cut tries to roll over but Diaz keeps him under control.
Dabi Cut has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Otto Diaz is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Still in half guard, Diaz seems content to control.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dabi Cut.
Well Diaz has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
