The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Briggs looks to throw the jab but Valdez is out of range.
Valdez with the counter takedown but Briggs avoids it easily.
Briggs tries to sprawl but Valdez drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Valdez is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Valdez scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Valdez moves into full mount! Briggs won't be happy about that!
A nice elbow there by Valdez.
Briggs knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Valdez on the ground.
Valdez lands a big shot there that rocks Briggs but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Valdez lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Valdez is landing with some decent strikes but Briggs is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Valdez postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Briggs in real trouble here! The ref calls for Briggs to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
