Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ralph McGuire!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lou Higgins!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Reed Andrews and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Higgins throws out a loose jab but McGuire uses good head movement to avoid it.
Higgins cracks McGuire with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
McGuire fails in his attempt to clinch.
McGuire tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Higgins was well out of range. Poor timing from McGuire.
Higgins stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from McGuire.
A looping hook to the body misses from McGuire. Higgins does a little dance to reset his feet.
Higgins wants to counter with a clinch but McGuire pushes him away.
Higgins misses with an uppercut
and McGuire counters with a stiff right hand.
McGuire throws a quick inside leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Higgins misses the shot to the body.
It looked like McGuire wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Higgins rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and McGuire counters with a nice kick to the body.
Higgins throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Higgins has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Higgins throws an ugly left hook that misses
and McGuire counters with a thumping low kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McGuire slips a straight right by Higgins.
Higgins throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
McGuire throws out a powerful jab.

It looks like Lou Higgins has been cut.
McGuire is looking to land body kicks.
McGuire is looking to chop away at Higgins's legs.
Higgins misses with a body shot.
McGuire scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
McGuire misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Higgins is clearly trying to counter these attacks from McGuire with a body shot.
McGuire works Higgins's body with a nice hook.
Higgins misses with a right hand
and McGuire counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
A big right followed by a crushing left from McGuire knocks Higgins out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Ralph McGuire!
